This first shipment marks the beginning of a schedule of weekly organic fruit arrivals for the rapidly expanding firm.
Business development manager Harley Williams said: “This is an exciting development for BanaBay as we seek new avenues of distribution with specialist organic suppliers.
“Having investigated the market for organic bananas at Fruit Logistica in Berlin earlier this year, we felt the time was right for us to add to the range of produce we supply into the UK, where there is a real appetite for organic produce. Once we have bedded in the new line, we expect other countries in Europe to follow suit.”
BanaBay started exporting less than two years ago with a single container shipment of conventionally grown bananas into the UK. This has now progressed to regular high volume weekly shipments of containers to an average of 10 countries worldwide.
