Born in Manchester, Mike graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida last May and is training hard to improve his personal best jump of 2.22m, to forge ahead in the UK rankings while also competing in the World University Games in Korea 2015.

I’m so excited to be on the Olympic trail aiming towards qualification in Summer 2016. I’m in good shape and on form, scoring 2.20 at two events so far this season.
Great to have BanaBay at my back supplying moral support and bananas to power me through my training schedule.
In January and February I had a pretty hectic schedule with five indoor meetings in Germany, Ireland, Austria, Czech Republic and the UK. I finished in the top five positions in each event and my best jump was 2.20.
So far in my career 2.22 has been my personal best but my target jump is 2.25.
After the indoor season I am now prepping for outdoor season which kicks off at the end of May with the Bedford International Games. I am off to sunny Florida for 4 weeks intensive training with my coach this April.
When I am training I always drink plenty of water rather than go for tea or coffee. I am careful with energy drinks and supplement my food intake with protein shakes and 6-8 bananas a day for that vital slow energy release.
